@tonzylstra Thanks Ton, really appreciate the kind offer. I guess the different volume of participation can make for quieter & more engaged conversation. I'm really torn because I'm so keen on Jaiku but so short of time, and also not heartened by Google's approach to the service since they took it over.
@topgold - i think your right. I'd use Jaiku in a training/intro situation. For one thing all of the features are already here, not spread out over a zillion third party sites :)

or maybe, only learn not to mind so much about the inevitable periods of disconnection. It's kind of good to not think about the info streams as if they were linear, let alone might constitute any kind of linear narrative. Maybe this is one of the reasons why lifestreaming is popular - the illusion that if you could somehow keep track of everything, there'd be a coherent story at the end of the rss rainbow.

Ah you'll make that easy. How'd you get the midnight deadline though? The online world is so full of perks. I'm so old that our assignments always had to be posted into a wooden box that was locked after 1pm lol.
